Florida, a no-fault state, requires drivers to maintain PIP with property damage liability (PDL) to meet the insurance companies Florida regulations. This insurance companies Florida electronic document regulation applies to all insurance companies Florida documents, including:

  • Proof of Insurance - Such as an insurance companies Florida policy declaration page or ID card.
  • Certificate of Liability and Cancellation of Liability - These are insurance companies Florida SR-22 and SR-26 certificates.
  • Driver Improvement and Accident Prevention Driving Courses - Each approved insurance companies Florida driving school will each the course certificate once the student has completed the course.



Insurance Companies Florida Coverage Rejections

Insurance companies Florida regulations allow policyholders to reject the following coverages:

  • Bodily Injury Liability,
  • Uninsured Motorist Liability and,
  • Under-Insured Motorist Liability Coverages.



To reject these coverages, insurance companies Florida carriers must provide the policyholder with a coverage rejection form and the insurance companies Florida policyholder must sign and date the rejection notice. To ensure policyholders have ample opportunity to maintain their policies, insurance companies Florida regulations require insurance companies Florida carriers to give policyholders at least 45 days’ notice prior to cancelling their policies. There are two notable exceptions to this insurance companies Florida regulation:

  • Insurance companies Florida carriers can cancel a newly purchased policy within the first 30 days, a period called free-look.
  • During this free-look period, the insurance companies Florida carrier can verify the accuracy of the information provided in the insurance application. If fraudulent or inaccurate information is found, the carrier can:
    • Flat Cancel the Policy – cancel the policy back to the inception date, providing no coverage.
    • Correct the inaccurate information and apply the applicable premium.
    • Cancel the policy with a future date, giving the insurance companies Florida policyholder time to purchase a new policy.
    • Insurance companies Florida carriers can cancel a policy with only 10-days’ notice when the insurance companies Florida policyholder fails to pay premium.
